MATRIMONIAL PRACTICES IN THE AEGEAN. THE CASE OF NISYROS ISLAND. 19th c.

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 11, residents and guests of Nisyros swarmed at the porches of the municipal hotel at the port of the island and at the idyllic atmosphere created by the magnificent view of the sunset on the horizon of Aegean Sea, enjoyed an event with intense elements of literature, history, folklore, as well as common and inheritance law. It was the presentation of the book of our compatriot, professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Dr Zacharia Tsirpanli entitled "MATRIMONIAL PRACTICES IN THE AEGEAN. THE CASE OF NISYROS ISLAND. 19th c.", a Nisyrian Studies’ Society publication. It is concerned with the analysis of 339 Nisyrian marriage contracts, from 1837 to 1894.
