THE ECUMENICAL PATRIARCH BARTHOLOMEW IN NISYROS.
4-6 AUGUST 2001 and "NISYRIAKA" vol. 21st"

With the large attendance of Nisyrians and visitors, but with strict observance of sanitary measures, was presented the anniversary volume with the chronicle of the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch to Nisyros in August 2001, in the presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Kos and Nisyros Mr Nathanael, the mayor Chr. Koronaios, the deputy mayors, and the members of Town Council, the military commander, the Harbor Master, presidents and members of the Nisyrian Societies of the Diaspora, etc.
The Metropolitan addressed an inspiring greeting at the beginning, and the presentation of the volume for the patriarch’s visit was made by our compatriot Costas Efs. Skandalidis. This was followed by a greeting from the author of the volume, Giannis Chartofylis, and then, His Eminence handed honorary plaques of our Society to the two outgoing precentors, Antonios Chartofylis and Nikitas Mastrogiannis. The President of the Society, Costas Chartofylis, proceeded to the general presentation of the 21st NISYRIAKA, emphasizing the contribution of the Monastery of Spiliani, in the social sector, as described by the English Archaeologist in 1885 Th. Bent and presented it at an event at the Royal Anthropological Institute in London. Then the philologist As. Billi developed the diverse offer of the Nisyrian Society in America O GNOMAGORAS, as recorded in the relevant article by N. Sfakianos.
